Dear Highline College Community,
Executive Cabinet and JIC (Joint Information Center) have been monitoring the news about International Students in our region being impacted by the U.S. State Department’s actions regarding visas. Some of our peer colleges in Washington State have started experiencing the revocation of student visas. We recognize that our international students may be experiencing increased concern during these uncertain times.
We appreciate the good work of Highline’s International Student Programs (ISP) Staff in monitoring and tracking information and for their direct work in support of Highline students. We are working with the ISP Staff on creating some connection opportunities for students to receive updated information, connect with peers and share concerns both in-person and virtually.
As faculty and staff of Highline, we appreciate your understanding, support and engagement with all our students, especially those dealing with the swirl of information around immigration and enforcement. If you are looking for resources to share we recommend Know Your Rights: Civil Immigration Enforcement in Washington | Washington State.
If you have questions or thoughts please contact us. We have created an input form that can be used to share information and concerns as we continue to navigate this changing landscape together (JOINT INFORMATION CENTER (JIC) INPUT FORM). To review prior campus communication please see the Office of the President’s Campus Engagement page.
In community,
Highline College Executive Cabinet and the Joint Information Center
