December 19, 2023: James (Jim) Glennon

Dear Highline Community,

We recently learned sad news. James (Jim) Glennon, long time faculty member in the Social Sciences Division, passed away on December 4, 2023. At time of passing, Jim was surrounded by his loving family and was preceded in death by his beloved wife LaRae L. Glennon. Jim was an educator for 50 years and retired from Highline College in 2011. Prior to teaching at Highline, he taught at history and economics at Mt. Rainier High School in Des Moines and in Rosalia, Washington. Jim also coached football and earned a Masters in Education from Whitworth College. Jim’s daughter Lena has been in touch with us and with the help of Jim’s friends  are planning a celebration of life to be held on campus in January 2024. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made to the Jim Glennon Scholarship for Future Educators through the Highline Schools Foundation.* We will share more information about the planned memorial when details are available.
