Professional Enrichment Days (Tuesday, Dec. 26 and Wednesday, Dec. 27)

Professional enrichment days are reserved for training, equity-focused learning, or other self-guided professional development activities. All employees are to work from home on these days. Managers should determine what professional development will be most beneficial to their teams; employees may communicate their education and skill development desires prior to the scheduled days. Employees may also choose to use vacation, personal leave or personal holiday in lieu of participating in the professional enrichment days.

What should I do on my Professional Enrichment Days?

A few suggestions:

  • As employees of Highline College, there are several required trainings that you must complete as a condition of your employment. If you have not yet had the opportunity to complete the state and federally mandated Get Inclusive training modules, this is a great time to do so. The portal will offer a total of seven different modules. However, only the following three are required for you to take:
    • Groundswell 2.0 & Meridians (Harassment & Title IX)
    • VFC – Hazing and Bullying Prevention
    • Child Abuse Prevention
  • There is also a series of required IT Security training from Nanolearning. These lessons are delivered weekly to your inbox, sent from Highline College ITS Helpdesk noreply@highline.edu. You can now access all your currently assigned training modules at https://its.highline.edu/securitytraining/. Questions regarding this required training series can be directed to Jennifer Jovanovich.
  • All caught up with your online trainings? Our fabulous Highline College Librarians have provided the following LIB Guides to support professional enrichment. I invite you to peruse their listings and dive into a subject that peaks your interest and offers opportunities for further individual and community growth.

Virtual Operations (Thursday, Dec. 28 – Friday, Dec. 29)

Please note that Highline’s campus will be closed to the public Dec. 28–29 with no in-person services being offered. Unless otherwise directed by your supervisor, staff are approved for remote work during this timeframe regardless of your regular telework agreement schedule.

If there are any remaining questions about the outlined schedule, I encourage you to speak directly with your supervisor. Questions can also be directed to hrstaff@highline.edu.

Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season!

Warm regards,

Danielle
